Railways of North-West Russia
Railways became the basis of Russia’s economical growth in the 19th century.
The railway network linked Riga, Libau (Liepāja) and Windau (Ventspils) with the major industrial centres of Russia.
St Petersburg – Warsaw 1860; Riga – Dinaburg 1861; Riga – Mittau 1868;
Riga – Dinaburg – Oryol 1868; Libau – Romny 1871; Windau (Ventspils)– Rybinsk 1901 – 1904.
