Yevgeny Pugin
Yevgeny Pugin (12th of July 1955, Riga, Latvian SSR) – a photoartist.
Yevgeny Pugin graduated from the faculty of economics of the University of Latvia. He started practicing in photography in 1970ies by himself, and also attended photoclubs "VEF" and "Rīga". Later, he was taking oral lessons from many well-known local photographers.
The hobby gradually became his main profession. Pugin's first photos were published in the newspaper "Rīgas balss" when he was a high school pupil. Since 1977 Yevgeny Pugin had been working as a supernumerary press photographer in different local periodicals and at the news agency Latinform.
In 1982-1988 Pugin had participated in the competitions which were organized by different local periodicals and institutions. In all of them his works received the first prices. In 1983-1988 he had been working as a press photographer at the Latvian branch of the Press Agency "News" (rus. Новости), and also practiced in artistic photography (escpecially, in seascapes).
He regularly organizes exhibitions in Riga and Jurmala. In 2006 Yevgeny Pugin became the initiator and organizer of the exhibition of Latvian marine artists MARINA, which took place at Jurmala Art Museum, and later became annual and international.
Yevgeny Pugin is a member of the Union of Artists and the Union of Journalists of Latvia.
