The last photograph in the staff room before the school’s closure. 1935.
Following a directive by the Minister of Education, A. Tentelis, The Riga City Russian Secondary School (formerly the Lomonosov School) was closed on 1 September 1935. The reason for the closure was the state’s policy to discontinue schools of national minorities, occasioned by a sharp reduction in financing for schools from the town’s budget.
The Closure of the High School came as a heavy and unfair blow to Russian society.
