The holy martyr John Pommer

John Pommer was canonized in 2001  

In 2001 an exceptional event occurred in the history of the Latvian Orthodox Church – it was decided by the Holy Synod of the Latvian Orthodox Church (LOC) and the Assembly of the LOC to canonize the holy martyr Archbishop John Pommer.

On the blessing of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, Alexy II, the martyr’s immortal relics were unearthed and transported to the Cathedral of the Birth of Christ, in which he lived and served from 1921 to 1934.
