Prince Vyachko

Prince Vyachko-ruled in Koknese principality at the beginning of the XIII-th century.

There were two versions of the origin of prince Vyachko. The most plausible is the version about Vyachko being one of the descendents of the Ruricks. The Livonian Chronicle of Henry states that at the beginning  of the 13-th century Vyachko ruled in Koknese and concluded  a peace treaty with bishop Albert but continued to fight against the Germans-crusaders. Vyacko began to rule in Yuryev (now Tartu). He was killed in the battle when the German troops conquered his fortress.
