Galina and Vladimir Petrov

Galina and Vladimir Petrov towards the end of the 1930’s. He was a chess master, she a student at the University of Latvia. Vladimir Petrov (1908-1943) perished in GULAG. Galina (1914-2000) during the last years of her life headed the ‘Memorial’ society, which she had set up. Thanks to her efforts, a memorial to the Latvian Russians having suffered repression was erected in the grounds of the Holy Trinity – St. Sergius Convent in Riga on 14, june 1994.
