Vasily Vaskov
Vasily Vaskov (1865, Smolensk Governorate, Russian Empire – 1935, Riga, Republic of Latvia) – a public and musical figure, choir conductor.
V. Vaskov descended from peasant's family and came to Riga in search for earnings. He engaged a self-education, did accountant's courses. From his childhood V. Vaskov had a flair for music and finished First Riga Musical Institute, majoring in violin playing. V. Vaskov founded a choir and orchestra at the Kuznetsov factory. He became a choir regent at St. John the Baptist church in Riga. V. Vaskov was one of the founders of rhe Russian singing community «Bayan» in 1929 and held some leading positions there.
