Alexander Borovsky

Alexander Borovsky (1889 or 1892, Jelgava, Courland Governorate, Russian Empire – 1968, Massachusetts, USA) – famous piano player and theatre leader.

A. Borovsky was born in Mitau (Jelgava) and baptized there. A. Borovsky had a flair for music and entered Petersburg Conservatory which he graduated from with distinction. He was a brilliant musician performer. In 1915-1920 A. Borovsky lived and worked in Moscow being a professor of Moscow Conservatory. After the decay of the Russian Empire he could not realize himself, left Russia in 1920 and moved to Latvia.He became very popular and made concert tours throuout the world.During the 1922-1940-ies A. Borovsky performed in Latvia as soloist and with concerts,As a musician performer A,Borovsky  had a wide -range repertoire consisting of the music of the composers of different epochs, countries and styles and was a talented pianist. He demonstrated fascinating technique in playing and experimenting with music.
